Viewers of ABC News Breakfast will soon be greeted by a new yet distinguished face as they sip their morning coffee. Renowned Indigenous Affairs Editor, Bridget Brennan, is poised to transition into the role of newsreader for the popular morning news program from the start of next week.
Announcing the transition with excitement, News Breakfast co-host Michael Rowland dubbed the news as “significant”. He disclosed that the illustrious Bridget Brennan, with her journalistic prowess, will be gracing the morning news desk from the dawn of the next week.
In addition, Rowland verified that Brennan would intermittently fill in for co-host Lisa Millar, who is occupied exploring other endeavours within the organization. Rowland shared, “Bridget will be sharing the hosting realm with me at least one day in a week as Lisa dedicates her time to other ABC projects. Bridget’s inclusion undeniably paves the way for a strengthened Breakfast team.”
Existing viewers already recognize Brennan for her exceptional work throughout her 12-year tenure at the ABC, a journey that began as a rookie journalist in 2010. Brennan has recently wrapped up a strenuously active stint with the network, where she spent several months dedicated to coverage of the Voice to Parliament referendum.
In her distinguished career, Brennan has assumed a variety of roles within the ABC, such as the National Indigenous Affairs Correspondent and Europe Correspondent, a testament to her journalistic versatility and acumen.
This recent change of guard follows the unexpected announcement of finance presenter Madeleine Morris. After dedicating four years to the show, Morris revealed she would be stepping away from her role, prioritizing spending more time with her children.
