BetMGM announced on Tuesday that its gift cards would be available in select states where live gaming is legal. The iGaming and online sportsbook operator is partnering with New York-based TAPPP in offering gift cards.
BetMGM gifts cards will be in $25 and $50 denominations in over 6, 000 locations across eight states. The card will also be available in retailers like Dollar General, Speedway, Sheetz, and Kum & Go.
The BetMGM gift card is well-timed, first at the time the NFL season is commencing. Second, the holiday shopping season is soon arriving. In any given year, most shoppers buy at least one gift in the fourth quarter.
With more states joining live legal sports gaming frenzy, BetMGM gift cards have the potential to grow their clients. The operator is, however, not the first to offer gift cards. DraftKings and InComm Payment partnered last December in a gift card deal that covered retailers just like the BetMGM pact.
DraftKings Gift Cards can be used to play at the operator’s internet casinos. BetMGM is yet to clarify whether its card is eligible for use at its online casinos. BetMGM dominates the iGaming market in states it is operational.
BetMGM considers customer retention important in the intensive competitive sports betting market. And one way to do so is by making the opening and funding of accounts easier. Gift cards in a way accomplish that objective.
