March is finally here! That means it’s the start of longer days, warmer temperatures (fingers crossed) and the Sugaring Off season. Here is a list of fun to be had in and around the West Island:

1West Island Women’s Centre celebrates International Women’s Day 

The West Island Women’s Centre will be celebrating International Women’s Day a little early to avoid conflict with the March break. It is a time to get together with representatives of local organizations, schools and municipal services, and we have a few spots available for members. Our guest speakers this year will be Erin Kennedy, TMR City Councillor and Jennifer Lonergan from Artistri Sud. There will be a sit-down brunch so come hungry!

3Sugaring Off Family Event

Take a trip through time and discover the early origins of sugaring. You will have the chance to visit the Arboretum’s sugar house to experience the process of boiling down sap into a delightful golden treat. La visite comprend un voyage dans le temps, qui vous fera découvrir les origines de la récolte et de la transformation de la sève ainsi qu’une présentation du processus d’ébullition, grâce auquel la sève devient sirop, qui se passe dans la cabane même. 5Festival de la Voix 2018

Vox Aeterna is proud to celebrate the fifth annual Festival de la Voix, promoting live music, Canadian composers, and professional and emerging artists in six exciting, varied concerts, as well as offering outstanding workshops. From March 16 to 25 in the West Island (Dorval, Pointe-Claire, Beaconsfield, Lachine), Festival de la Voix Founder and Artistic Director Kerry-Anne Kutz welcome people from all over the city to come together once again to explore, enjoy and celebrate the beauty, versatility and power of the human voice!

6West Island Wine, Beer and Spirits Show

The West Island Wine, Beer & Spirits Show has been a success since its first event in 2012. Last year, the show had over 1000 visitors and over 200 wines, spirits and beer were tasted.

Our goal for this year is to raise $30,000 for the 41 community groups we already partner with. West Island Community Shares raised and distributed $1.2 million last year. The Wine Show is an important part of our fundraising efforts.

7The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation 8Th Annual Gastronomy Event

The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation celebrates the arrival of spring each year by organizing a gastronomic evening at Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.

On the menu:

  • Cocktail Hour
  • Delicious four-course dinner with wine

This will be followed by a silent auction, presentation of the Humanitarian Award, and a special draw.
