Every year to close off a summer filled with 20 games and two tournaments the Beaconsfield men’s slo-pitch holds its annual BBQ. This year was no exception. Corn, hamburgers, drinks and fun could be had by all.

Beer purchases contributed to the already hefty sum these 84 guys, and their devoted families, raise for a variety of causes in the West Island such as Nova West Island and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the West Island, West Island Palliative Care residence, Taylor Birks Foundation.

“Each year when registering for the league, each player donates $100 to a charity on the leagues list,” explained Rob Ryan, president of the league, ”this years tournaments combined raised close to $15,000.”

“Many of the players have been playing for years,” Ryan continued. “I have been playing for 24 years, we have players ranging in age from 25 to as old as 76 years. It is a good group.”

The league has raised more than $240,000 in the past 11 years.
