Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, began his freshman year of college this week at New York University, his father confirmed Wednesday in a video interview with the Daily Mail. The 18-year-old will be attending NYU’s prestigious Stern School of Business, one of the top business schools in the country, putting an end to months of speculation.

“He’s a very high aptitude child, but he’s no longer a child,” Trump said. “He’s just passed into something beyond child-dom. He’s doing great.”

Barron, who graduated in May from Oxbridge Academy, a private school near Mar-a-Lago in Florida, is now set to embark on his college journey just a few miles from his childhood home in Trump Tower, Manhattan. However, it remains unclear whether he will be living on campus or commuting from his family’s residence. A spokesperson for NYU did not respond to an email inquiry regarding his living arrangements.

The Stern School of Business is situated in the heart of downtown Manhattan, across from the iconic Washington Square Park. Last spring, the business school’s plaza was the site of a brief occupation by pro-Palestinian protesters, which led to police interventions and arrests. In light of potential renewed protests, the university has ramped up security for the fall semester.

This makes Barron the fourth of Donald Trump’s children to pursue higher education, though he chose a different path compared to three of his siblings. Ivanka Trump, Tiffany Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. are all alumni of the University of Pennsylvania, where their father also studied at the Wharton School of Business.

“I went to Wharton, and that was certainly one that we were considering. We didn’t do that,” Trump said. “We went to Stern.”
