Barrie City Intersection Closure Paves Way for Major Bridge Replacement Project

The summer season may have packed its bags, however, the symphony of construction continues unabated in the lively City of Barrie, its tempo set by the protracted closure of a bustling intersection.

As revealed, starting from Monday, the crossways of Cedar Pointe Drive and Edgehill Drive will be stripped of its vehicular draught until time leaps into mid to late December. According to announcements from the city, Edgehill Drive will be bereft of any throughway access during this period.

However, commerce breathes on, as the businesses lining Cedar Pointe Drive continue to welcome their patrons, maintaining an accessible route from Dunlop Street amid the cacophony of construction work.

This follows in the aftermath of protracted impediments that had erstwhile held hostage the fluidity of movement at the intersection of Cedar Pointe Drive and Dunlop Street. The recent attainment of functional normalcy last week signaled a significant step towards progress.

The prizefighter piloting this project, the contractor, remains embedded in the hustle, operating tirelessly until November 1st. His diligent endeavours aim to complete the sanitary installation and the refurbishing of the roadway.

According to the City, this earnest venture is a critical juncture in paving the path for the forthcoming project led by the Ministry of Transportation. This involves a crucial transformation—the replacement of the Dunlop Street Bridge, presently tucked into the stages of design and environmental assessment.

The year next unfurls with a challenging task of colossal dimensions as the bridge replacement undertaking is set to dawn. A forecast of its lifecycle predicts a duration of roughly four years to manifest completion. Once initiated, the project promises a meticulous meld of time, effort, and precision, creating an imprint of progress for years to come.
