The ministry of health in B.C reported another 724 infections Thursday, and two fatalities.
These new cases place the provincial rolling 7-day average at 634, a rise from Wednesday’s figures.
Currently, the province has 5640 active cases, of which 149 are persons who are receiving treatment at various hospitals, including about 83 who are in the intensive care unit.
Since this pandemic hit, B.C has had 162693 confirmed infections and 1804 fatalities.
Of the new cases health official reported Thursday, 271 were recorded in the Interior Health zone, the same area that has been most affected by the Delta Variant.
Fraser health zone reported 185 cases, Vancouver health zone 142, about 64 in the Island health zone while Northern Health Zone had 62.
This health ministry update comes only two days after the authorities brought back the mask mandate for all indoor public areas.
Thursday’s cases match those the province reported on the 21st of August. Before then, the only other time B.C has had more than 724 infections was on the 1st of May, when 835 infections were registered.
