I truly enjoyed this family-friendly breakfast restaurant. Typical of any breakfast joint worth its salt, you can expect a lineup. My daughter Alex and I arrived with Mason at 8:45 a.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. Not one seat was left at 9:05 and the lineup grew and grew. They don’t take reservations.
The menu is varied. From organic gravlax, matzo ball soup, schnitzel to a latke smorgasbord, challah grilled cheese. You can, of course, go with the classic bagel/lox/cream cheese if you don’t feel adventurous. Mason’s breakfast included ricotta pancakes with maple syrup that were mouth watering. He was thrilled when he was allowed to eat a cookie with icing and colorful sprinkles. We took six to go!
I chose scrambled eggs with a press challah roll and latke with applesauce and sour cream. Really good. I will be trying the cinnamon babka next time.
The space is well lit and in a funky part of Griffintown. We did not have too much trouble getting there early on Saturday morning. The cones always make it a challenge, but it was well worth it.
