Among the most vehement detractors are Hofstra University, the Say NO To The Casino Civic Association and the Uniondale Nostrand Gardens Civic Association. Their critique stands on the belief that the colossal casino project would be inappropriate for the county, disrupting the lives of 60,000 students.
