Animatch’s Available Furry Friends – October 2019

Animatch boasts a centre with accommodation for a dozen dogs and a dedicated team of volunteers.  West Island Blog and Animatch have come together to help find our furry friends a forever home.  Please share this post to help them find a home if you can.

LORENA- FEMALE-KOKONI MIXED BREED- 8 MONTHS OLD

Lorena came to us from Greece with Compassion Sans Borders. She is both playful and shy. She gets along with other dogs and needs lots of walking, hiking and playing. With obedience classes, she could become a really amazing dog. Because of her age and background, she would do better in a home where she isn’t alone all day.

VALDEZ-MALE- CHIHUAHUA X – 5 YEARS OLD

Valdez came to Animatch as an unclaimed treasure. He is an alert little fellow, so he will let you know right away if there is a squirrel around or a leaf falling – no apartments or condos. He gets along well with other dogs but would probably prefer being an only dog. Obedience classes would help with his problem of being reactive with other dogs on leash. He would enjoy older children who understand that he isn’t a toy.

CHUNKY – MALE- LABRADOR SHEPHERD X -7 1/2 YEARS OLD

We’re not sure why, but Chunky has been with us since August. He’s not the most handsome guy in the centre, but he has a lot to offer. He was an unclaimed stray, difficult at any age, but especially so for a senior. He is very anxious to find a place to call his own. You can see that eating is one of his favourite things. If you adopt Chunky, you will have to do everything possible to help him lose weight – good food in proper quantities and daily exercise. If this isn’t done now, eventually the extra weight will take a toll on his bones, ligaments and joints. With him, you won’t have any of those puppy problems like chewed shoes, just a calm, solid walking companion. Sounds pretty good.

ELVIS- MALE- JACK RUSSEL TERRIER – 5 YEARS OLD

Elvis made the long journey from Greece, where, like many dogs here, his life was spent tied to a 6-foot leash in a company’s yard. For shelter, he crawled under a truck. He is a high-energy boy who would thrive at agility, flyball, or any other sport. He is very bright and would shine in obedience classes. He is somewhat bossy with other dogs, so would do better as your one and only. With all these qualities, we felt he could use some fine-tuning so he is spending some time at l’École de Formation des Intervenants canins du Québec. He is a star pupil and you can see him at https://www.facebook.com/formationintervenantscanins/.

About Animatch

Animatch has humble beginnings. It was founded in 1999 by Helen Lacroix, a busy wife and mother. Her grassroots movement started around her kitchen table. Helen credits her parents with instilling in her their love and concern for animals. Today, Animatch boasts a centre with accommodation for a dozen dogs and a dedicated team of volunteers.
