Lirio came to us from the Dominican Republic. Her jaw is a little off-centre and she has a crooked leg, so her rescuers believe she was hit by a car. Obedience classes with positive reinforcement would help her gain confidence. Another dog would also help as she relates better to them than humans right now. If you have love and patience to spare and think you’re the perfect family for her, fill out the form and ask for Lirio.

The Nordic Paws Project brought Jakarta and her four sisters to Animatch from Kuujuaraapik. We want Jakarta’s first home to be her forever home, so you must be ready to love and be committed to her for 12 – 15 years. She will need exercise every day (even in winter); will have to be kept healthy and pain-free; be trained to be a good canine citizen. Also, because she is a pup, she can’t be alone all day. If you can do all this, fill out the form and ask for Jakarta (or one of her sisters.)

Matey was an unclaimed stray (or gem). We don’t know anything about his previous life, except that he didn’t spend much time with the vet. He has had so many untreated ear infections that his ears are permanently disfigured. Continued cleaning and maintenance with a special solution will help them stay clean and infection-free. He has some arthritis in his hips, so the vet suggests Cartrophen injections – not super expensive. He likes all humans and dogs, but would also be happy as your one and only. If you’re looking for a loyal companion for slow walks and then an evening of Netflix, Matey is your guy.

Libby started out as a street dog in Morocco. All she wants is a shot at being a family dog. She is a little slow to warm up but once she’s comfortable, she will be your friend forever. She can be intimated by other dogs, so she would do best your one and only, or with one that respects her space. We are looking for an experienced family of adults, as Libby wouldn’t be happy in a household with a busy lifestyle. She would benefit from obedience training, and she loves toys and soft beds. She suffered two fractures on her front leg, so she has a slight limp when she’s tired. Libby is waiting patiently for you to fill out the form and ask for her.

About Animatch

Animatch has humble beginnings. It was founded in 1999 by Helen Lacroix, a busy wife and mother. Her grassroots movement started around her kitchen table. Helen credits her parents with instilling in her their love and concern for animals. Today, Animatch boasts a centre with accommodation for a dozen dogs and a dedicated team of volunteers.
