Animatch boasts a centre with accommodation for a dozen dogs and a dedicated team of volunteers. West Island Blog and Animatch have come together to help find our furry friends a forever home. Please share this post to help them find a home if you can.
CHAD- MALE-NORDIC MIX-5 MONTHS DOB SEPT 28/19
Chad came to Animatch through the Nordic Paws Project. They don’t have any history on him, but at five months old, he’s almost a blank page. He is active, outdoorsy and gives slobbery kisses. Obedience classes would help him remember that he is getting too big for lap-sitting. He’s too young and active to spend the whole day alone. If you think you have the time and energy for this lively boy, fill out the form and ask for Chad.
KEANU-MALE-HUSKY X -2 1/2 YEARS OLD
Keanu also came to Animatch through the Nordic Paws Project. He hails from Whapmagoostui where he was a homeless wanderer. He is a little shy and needs a calm, patient home, preferably with someone who knows the Husky breed. He seems aloof, but needs attention. Keanu gets along with other dogs, but not cats. Obedience classes would help boost his confidence. He’ll need help adjusting to indoor living; tiled floors and door bells are challenges. He needs lots of daily exercise and would love to tag along if you snowshoe or do any other winter sport. If you think you and he could be a happy family, fill out the form and ask for Keanu.
LUNA-FEMALE-MIXED BREED (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC) 1 YEAR OLD
Luna immigrated from the Dominican Republic because there are too many dogs and not enough adopters. She was quite frightened at first, but she is beginning to adjust. She is still hesitant when first approached, but her playful personality soon emerges. Luna gets along with other dogs and would appreciate living with another well-balanced canine. She’s a cuddler and would enjoy a soft bed with a cozy fleece. If you think you’re the human for this sweet girl, fill out the form and ask for Luna.
WHITIE-FEMALE-HUSKY X- 2 YEARS OLD
She comes from Kuujuaraapik, where the expected lifespan of stray dogs is two to three years. Her puppies will be born soon and they’ll all be safe and sound and warm as she teaches them whatever they need to know. Whitie has spent her whole life as a stray, so someone who knows the Husky breed and is willing to take her to obedience classes is a must. She gets along with other dogs, but not cats. If you think you’re the one to guide and encourage Whitie on her journey to becoming a good canine companion, you know what to do. WHITIE AND HER PUPS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION IN 10 – 12 WEEKS.

Animatch has humble beginnings. It was founded in 1999 by Helen Lacroix, a busy wife and mother. Her grassroots movement started around her kitchen table. Helen credits her parents with instilling in her their love and concern for animals. Today, Animatch boasts a centre with accommodation for a dozen dogs and a dedicated team of volunteers.
