Animatch boasts a centre with accommodation for a dozen dogs and a dedicated team of volunteers.  West Island Blog and Animatch are joining together to help find our furry friends a forever home.  Please share this post to help them find a home if you can.

ANNABELLE- FEMALE- GOLDEN X- 1 YEAR OLD

Annabelle comes to us from Waskaganish, where there are too many dogs, not enough homes and no vets. We have no history on her, but she loves everyone, cuddles and gives slobbery kisses. She is smart and very eager to please, so obedience classes would benefit both her and her human. Annabelle gets along with other dogs and would probably enjoy living with one. If you think you’re the one to give this joyous girl her forever home, fill out the form and ask for Annabelle.

VERONICA FEMALE – KOREAN MIXED BREED – 2 YEARS OLD

THEN – Veronica (nicknamed Chica) arrived at Animatch in June 2018 with her four puppies. They were rescued by Humane Services International, and the puppies have all gone to their forever homes. Chica spent a few weeks with a foster mom and then we decided that some time at École de Formation des Intervenants Canins would be good for her. She progressed well, realizing that the people around her mean her no harm. She came to make eye contact and accepted treats from the handlers’ hands.

NOW – Chica is now with a foster mom and this is what she has to say: “If you love to walk, and would enjoy a companion, Chica is your girl. She loves long walks and is very good on the leash. She doesn’t pull and is not leash aggressive. You can stop and chat with your neighbour and their dogs, and not worry about Chica. She also loves car rides. Chica is not destructive in the house and does not get on the furniture. She rarely barks and does like to be in the same room as you. All of this sounds wonderful, and it is, but she is still a very fearful dog. She will come up to strangers in the house, and may even lick their hand, but she will not allow them to touch her. She does not like to be cornered, and I have only been able to pet and brush her shoulders and chest. It’s driving me crazy not to be able to pull out those big puffs of shedding hair on her thighs! Progress is super slow with Chica, and she will probably never be a “cuddle bug” with anyone, but she is happy to have good food, fun walks and a safe, secure place to sleep at night. A mellow second dog to show her the ropes of a new house and family is very important.” So you see, as much as we want a forever home for Chica, it will take some very special. If you think it might be you,  please fill out the form and ask for her by either name.
