Amber Alert for Kidnapped 3-year-old widened to Northwestern New Brunswick and Quebec

Amber Alert that police issued for a missing 3-year-old who disappeared from Bas-Saint-Laurent, Quebec has been widened province-wide and even extended into New Brunswick.

Quebec police say the last time the 3-year-old was see was on the 31st of August, 1pm, in Sainte-Paule municipality.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said last Wednesday that they extended the Amber Alert to cover the entire province.

Police are urging residents of Restigouche, Gloucester and Madawaska are to the north of New Brunswick to inform police should they spot the boy or the kidnapper.

Based on a description issued by police, Jake Cote is said to have short brown hair, and weighs about 30lbs.

He last had on beige boots, blue t-shirt and jeans.

It is believed that he was kidnapped by David Cote, the father, whom police describe as having short brown hair, blue eyes and weighs about 180lbs. He last had on army style pants and a dark sweater.

Police say they believe David Cote to hiding with the child in a densely forested area approximately 400 km to the northeast of the Capital.

The SQ has sent out officer on foot, a helicopter and ATVs.

Police also say they located a hand-painted grey, dirty ATV in the area they are searching. They are urging the public not to engage the kidnapper as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
