Alberta health officials have reported 139 new infections and 2 fatalities in the last three days. On Friday alone, health officials reported 42 new infections, 53 more on Saturday and a further 44 Sunday.
The fatalities involved a man in the 40s, who succumbed on the 1st of July in Edmonton, and another in the 70s, who passed away on the same day, in Calgary.
As at Sunday, Alberta had about 831 active infections of COVID-19. By close of day, Sunday, 136 persons were hospitalized, with 32 needing intensive care.
In all, health officials completed about 12399 tests between Friday and Sunday. Friday’s positive rate stood at 0.99 percent out of 3928 tests, 1.26 percent on Saturday out 4208 tests, and 0.99 percent Sunday out of 4263 tests.
Currently, the provincial fatality rate stands at 2303. As of last Saturday, 4578868 vaccine doses were administered. Health officials said about 73.4 percent of all Albertans in the age range 12 and above have received at least the first dose, and approximately 48.4 percent of the same age range have had both jabs.
