Alberta Records Highest Daily Infection Average Since Last May

Health officials reported about 501 infections Wednesday, the highest figure the province has seen since the 27th of May.

Alberta’s case load currently stands at 3769, about 306 cases more than the figure reported in the last press briefing.

In the meantime, 311 additional cases of variants of concern have been reported in the province. The overall known active case load for variants of concern is 3046.

Since the start of July, the Delta variant has been reported in many of the incidences involving variants of concern reported in Alberta.

So far, 2331 have succumbed to COVID-19.

Another 5 persons have hospitalized bringing the total count to 138, 31 of which are in the ICU.

Health officials reported that 90.3 percent of those in the ICU have not received a single jab, 3.2 percent have had partial immunization, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s CMOH, said.
