A Man Shot Dead Near Palms Place Hotel & Spa in Downtown Las Vegas, Suspect Flees

This week one man has been killed in an incident shooting on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. According to Lt. Ray Spencer, the shooting occurred after a physical altercation on the avenue between Fremont and 3rd streets.

The fight began at 3:40 am on Wednesday, and the suspect has been identified as a Black man, pulled a handgun, and shot the other man. The victim ran and collapsed about a block away, he was rushed to University Medical Center, where he passed away.

Spencer says that the two men were not guest in any of the hotels in the area. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is reviewing surveillance videos to try to piece together the incident. The victim and the perpetrator are believed to be around 30 to 35 years old.

In another incident this week, two women were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in a guest room at the off-Strip Palms Place Hotel & Spa. The police have identified the woman as April Montgomery, 39, and Josie Tyler-Montgomery, 39.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the city-county police department have combined their efforts to crack down on crime in the tourist destinations on the Strip. In the last few weeks, Capt. Dori Karen has tweeted the seizures of weapons and narcotics from suspects on the Strip.
