On Thursday, a 10-year-old student from Quebec City drowned during a school trip at the Base de Plein air Sainte-Foy, Quebec.
According to a statement by police, the boy was seen struggling in the water around 12:30. Lifeguards and bystanders were unable to reach him in time.
The boy was rescued from the water, and CPR was administered before being place in an ambulance.
The school board said that the students on the trip would be offered psychological services. Centre de Services scholaire des Decouvreurs school board however did not give further details regarding the police investigation underway.
