After weeks of anticipation without a winner, the $70 million Lotto Max jackpot finally found its lucky recipient on Wednesday morning. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) confirmed that the winning ticket was purchased in the Timiskaming and Cochrane area of northern Ontario.
The winning numbers for the August 20, 2024 draw were 02, 11, 12, 21, 24, 38, with a bonus number of 33. The encore numbers were 9073721.
In addition to the colossal jackpot, 14 Maxmillions prizes were awarded across Canada, with seven of these lucky winners hailing from Ontario. The $1 million-winning tickets in Ontario were purchased in Peterborough, Ottawa, Mississauga, Toronto, and via OLG.ca, which had two winners. Another Maxmillions prize was split by a ticket holder in Toronto and two others in western Canada, earning each winner $333,333.40.
Further adding to the excitement, an encore ticket sold in Unionville is now worth $1 million, while two $100,000-winning tickets were sold in Kingston and Ottawa.
In total, over $75 million in prizes were claimed by Ontarians. The OLG emphasized that thousands of additional prizes were awarded, urging all participants to check their tickets.
With the Lotto Max jackpot now reset to $40 million, the next draw is scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2024.
