3 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Iqaluit

The community of Iqaluit has reported 3 new COVID-19 cases and now, the total number of infected people in the area is 22. The government spokesperson stated that there is no evidence of community transmission since Saturday. The latest data from the Government of Nunavut reported 3 new cases and 22 infected in total, but so far, there have been no deaths reported.

Dr. Michael Patterson, the territory’s chief public health officer, has spoken to the public and declared an outbreak on Friday. Everything started on Wednesday when a single case of COVID-19 was detected. The case in question was a worker who did not have to isolate before entering the territory. On Friday, twelve more cases were reported and that prompted Dr. Michael Patterson to declare an outbreak. On Saturday, six new cases were reported as well.

The territorial government has updated its vaccine statistics on Friday, stating that 14,035 people in Nunavut had received their first dose and 10,434 had received a second dose.
