In an unsettling incident, a 12-year-old girl is currently facing accusations following the assault of several staff members and a fellow student at Sir Albert Love Catholic School in Oshawa, Ontario. The situation unfolded on Monday morning, just before the end of morning classes.
Authorities were alerted to the situation when they received a distress call about a young female student actively involving herself in physically aggressive confrontation against both students and faculty. The school is situated in close proximity to Wilson Road North and Hillcroft Street.
Upon arrival by the enforcement officers, the young girl eluded apprehension. Investigators later located her in the midst of a physical attack on a school staffer within the schoolyard. As a means of preventing further harm, the officers discharged a conducted energy weapon, bringing the assault to a halt.
The girl, whose identity remains undisclosed in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was subsequently arrested. She has been subsequently charged on multiple offenses – including four counts of assault and one count of mischief.
As a result of the attack, a person was taken to the hospital to receive treatment, having sustained a hit to the head during the chaos. The nature and specifics of the events leading up to the school incident on Monday morning remain largely undisclosed.
Authorities confirm, however, that they are closely coordinating with the school board and the parents of the accused student regarding the ongoing investigation. The charges that have been alleged against the young student are yet to be substantiated in court.
