Pierrefonds resident Adriana Muller and her ballroom dance partner Chaz Taylor walked off with the second place ranking at the Alors on Danse Canadian National competition in Vaudreuil-Dorion on October 14, 15 and 16.
The competition consisted of various levels of Latin, Ballroom, Social Modern and Line Dancing. In a sexy Latin choreograph the couple danced three rounds in the 16+ pre-champ championship segment. Each lasting about 2 minutes with several other competitors on the dance floor simultaneously.
J-Phillippe Milot, Muller’s coach, is a professional dancer and world representative and has been dancing for 25 years.
“She practices every day for two or three hours a day, Milot said. “She is very dedicated. The chemistry is great between Adriana and Chaz even though they are a new union. They knew they would dance together from the moment they met.”
According to both mother’s of the duo, Natalie Muller, and Claudette Prévost, there is a substantial financial commitment that goes along with competing at this level.
“This has been a passion for Adriana for the past six years,” Mom Muller stated. “I am willing to support her dream.”
Adriana started in Hip Hop and tap dancing but found it wasn’t for her.
“This is more my style, I feel this inside,” Adriana said. “I am in the studio as much as I can while I balance my undergrad at Université de Montreal.”
“Chaz and I choose our costumes and colors together. The style of the couple shines through in the costume choice. Today we are dancing Latin style which will include Cha Cha, Rumba, and Samba,” she elaborated.
Chaz says he doesn’t remember a time when he wasn’t dancing.
“The passion is hereditary, my mom was an avid dancer,” Chaz said. “I started ballroom at ten years old. I did Hip Hop and contemporary as well as Ballet in Cegep in a concentrated dance program at College Montmorency.”
