Pfizer employees, in partnership with Volunteer West Island’s Corporate Volunteer Program, recently celebrated Give a Hand Day, the company’s second annual community day.  Leading up to the holidays, 300 Pfizer volunteers headed out to sixteen non-profit community groups in the Montreal and Toronto areas to lend a hand and make a difference.

Among the locations in Montreal and the West Island that warmly welcomed Pfizer volunteers were Animatch, Dans la Rue, Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation, Moisson Montreal, Old Brewery Mission, On Rock Community Centre, Saint-Columba House, Salvation Army, Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre, VOBOC, West Island Mission, and WIAIH’s Angelman Respite Centre.

“At Pfizer Canada, we’re proud to be active in our community. Non-profit organizations always need a helping hand, but even more so during the holidays,” said Rhonda O’Gallagher, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, at Pfizer Canada. “We’re very proud of how colleagues get involved in a wide variety of volunteer activities including this annual corporate volunteering day. Our Pfizer values of community, respect for people, leadership and collaboration are not only lived within our walls, but within our community as well.”

Not only were the community groups appreciative of the assistance from Pfizer volunteers; the employees who took part in the wide range of volunteer opportunities enjoyed the day as well. “We have been inundated with positive feedback from colleagues who participated in the day. They found the experience to be extremely gratifying and were impressed with the level of dedication and commitment of the people they met at the non-profit organizations”, stated Heather Bisset, Manager, Corporate Affairs, Pfizer Inc., adding Pfizer looks forward to collaborating again with Volunteer West Island next year for a repeat performance!
