Christmas Message from West Island Citizen Advocacy

568

We would like to share with you a story of dedication and kindness that features a unique character. In some ways, this story is similar to the one of a white-bearded man in red suit who wanted every child in the world to get a gift at Christmas.  And so with the amazing dedication of hard-working elves, his factory was bustling with activity.

Forty years ago, our main character had the same unique dream: that every person in the West Island has access to adapted services and sufficient resources. For every isolated senior, there would be a kind soul. For every mentally and physically handicapped person, there would be a compassionate being. For every vulnerable citizen, there would be an advocate-volunteer.

In order to reach this goal, our kind benefactor opened a factory that produces gifts made of friendship, understanding and altruism. This factory is commonly known as West Island Citizen Advocacy (WICA). All year long, many committed craftsmen and craftswomen are busy building support, spreading kindness and showing empathy. The most amazing fact about them is that they all are citizens of West Island. Even your neighbour could be one of these undercover volunteers working for the greater good.

WICA is actually a non-profit organization providing much-needed support to the most vulnerable citizens of the West Island through. As the Christmas spirit is bustling around, feelings of contentment and gratitude are all over. During the holidays, a considerable amount of people tend to give their time to volunteer. While WICA greatly encourages people to do so, we invite you to extent the Christmas spirit beyond the holidays. An alarming number of people are in constant need of support. Through WICA’s volunteering program, we wish to provide you a spot in our friendship factory.
