The City of Dorval and Insurance Bureau of Canada invite Dorval residents for a unique experience inside a mobile earthquake simulator on Monday, May 15, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., in the parking lot of the Dorval Arena (1450 Dawson Avenue).

To help Dorval citizens prepare for a real earthquake, we invite you to enter Quake Cottage, a mobile earthquake simulator. The event, organized jointly by Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), is intended to prepare Quebecers for a major quake.

By stepping into the simulator, each person will experience a 30-second quake measuring 7 on the Richter scale.

“Together, we must prepare to deal with a major event and we’re betting that the individuals who experience a quake inside Quake Cottage will be more aware of the disastrous consequences that a real quake could have,” noted Pierre Babinsky, Director of Communications and Public Affairs, at Insurance Bureau of Canada.

Eastern Canada experiences an average of 450 quakes each year, and Quebec is especially at risk. And yet, the population is not prepared for a major earthquake. Therefore, to create greater awareness, the municipality and IBC decided to invite Dorval citizens to experience the unique sensation inside Quake Cottage.
